The words Haunted and Castle are as synomynous to each other as Country and Western. History is rich with medieval haunted castle lore and this site pays homage to those ancient monuments of mystery. Many of the scenes created for T. F. Powell's Haunted Castle were inspired by real Haunted Castles of Europe and other haunted locations such as hotels and ghost towns. Obviously, this adventure has it's own story line, but researching real haunts inspired a variety of ideas for the many scary scenes found here. The listing below is a dedication to these real castles and other haunts and how they inspired the making of my online Haunted Castle adventure.

The Berry Pomeroy Castle

England - The castle of de Pomeroy family has been known to have several ghosts including the Blue Lady. Their existence is spawned from a dark family history. Ghostly forms have been seen in the winding stone staircase. It is believed they are members of the de Pomery family and their torment is ripe with murder and betrayal.

The Crescent Hotel

Arkansas - The dark halls of this hotel built in 1886, is known for it's multitude of ghosts such as the Lady in the Garden and the Hospital Nurses. If you are ever in Eureka Springs, take the opportunity to experience the ghost tours they offer there.

The Tintagel Castle

England - Famous for the birthplace of King Arthur, features a mysterious cave just below it. There lies the haunting of Merlin's ghost and those who venture thru it experience uneasy feelings of fear so strong that they keep their visit short.

The Berkeley Castle

England - The Berkeley Castle in Berkeley Gloucestershire was once the home and prison of Edward II. His wife Queen Isabella subjected him to a vile torture of inserting a funnel up his rectum and plunging a hot iron into his bowels, resulting in his painful death. His screams of agony have been heard by visitors for hundreds of years.

The Leslie Castle

Ireland - The Leslie Castle haunting lore is centered around The Red Room. There the spirit of Norman Leslie, killed at the castle, has been seen along with other entities and eerie sounds.
